What rabies vaccine is acceptable for my dog when traveling?

I am sorry it is hard to tell because not all the label is in English. There is a red R there but i do not specifically see the word Rabies in English. There is also DAPP there which would typically be the acronym for the distemper parvo vaccine but as the whole label is not in English it is hard to know what that really represents. Your options are to call the clinic that gave the vaccine for verification or contact Merial who made the vaccine. There are different types of Rabies vaccination titers. The FAVN is required for travel to Rabies free countries, but they also offer the RFFIT which is less expensive, but is not adequate for travel. Hello, yes indeed. The immune response to the vaccine can create enough antibodies to last 3 years. The vaccine is only recommended to be administered prior to the lot expiry date, however the vaccine once administered does not expire within he body as it only serves to create antibodies which again, will likely last all years that the certificate is good for. If Frankie has never had a vaccine reaction in the past I wouldn't expect him to have one this time. The American Animal Hospital Association recommends that all dogs are vaccinated with a distemper/parvo combination as well as a Rabies vaccination. I am attaching a link to their recommendation below. https://www.aaha.org/guidelines/canine_vaccination_guidelines/practice_vaccination.aspx The top 2 are considered "core" vaccinations that all dogs should have, and they have details on how often vaccination is recommended. The "noncore" vaccinations are only recommended for dogs that are at risk for certain diseases, so I would recommend speaking to your veterinarian about Hazel's risk factors for those diseases. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The number of vaccines that are needed depends on the dogs age. If your dog is a puppy he needs the vaccine every 3 weeks until he gets TWO past 12 weeks of age. If you started vaccinating him when he was 12 weeks or older he only needs TWO 3 weeks apart. All puppies need it boostered a year later (when they are over 1 year old) then every 3 years. The difference between vaccines is that the 6 in 1 and 8 in 1 both have coronavirus and the 8 in 1 also has 2 serovars for leptospirosis. I do not thin that coronavirus is absolutely necessary and the leptospirosis is needed if your dog is at risk. Dogs can get leptospirosis from free standing water/puddles by drinking the water that could be contaminated with this bacteria from wild animal and rat urine. It causes kidney and liver failure. If your dog hikes, camps and swims then you should give it if the bacteria is present in your country. Otherwise the 5 in 1 is sufficient. I wish you the best!

If your dog is over due then he should be boostered and put in a 6 month quarantine. If he is NOT vaccinated and the dog that bit him has been confirmed to be Rabies positive your dog should be euthanized. If you are not sure if the dog that bit him is truly positive for rabies then Bruno should be quarantined for 6 months. I wish you the best!
