My dog's quick injury from climbing: Is it healing well after 9 days?

If it looks like it's healing fine, I wouldn't worry about any precautions when walking or bathing him. Just monitor it, keep it clean, but it should heal just fine if it keeps going the way it is.

Hi, provided the quick does not get infected, the nail will gradually grow back. I think just cleaning it and making sure it does not get infected will be enough. If you should notice any oozing or swelling/inflammation of the area, it could mean that the nail bed is getting infected and it is best to have Jaxon checked over. Also try to prevent Jaxon licking the wound. Hope this helps !

The nail should be pretty well healed at this point, but I would be more concerned about the fracture. I'm not sure what you mean by the fractures being removed (either that would need surgery to fix them in place, or perhaps you're using a splint without surgery). Either way, it would take weeks for the fractures to heal. If the skin looks good and Riley is comfortable, I would just keep doing what you're doing until your vet is back. It's probably way more bandage changes than you need, but if it's working and you only have a few more days, stick with it.

Poor guy. Most wounds heal within 7-10 days. Delayed healing occurs in older dogs and in cases of active infection. Nails can take several weeks to months to regrow. I hope this helps. Paw pad injuries should heal pretty quickly if they are going to heal at home. You can use sharp scissors and remove that flap of skin (but don't cut super close to the edge of the paw). Most of the time, this flap of skin will be like a cuticle on your finger so it doesn't cause pain to remove it. If it seems painful, don't cut it. After 5 days, the tissue underneath the flap should be looking more like the exterior paw pad. It should be darkening in color and not looking raw. If this is occurring, that's a good sign and Hercules seems to be healing it on his own. You can stop bandaging it. Continue to antibiotics for a full 10 days or until the wound is fully healed. You must prevent all licking and he should wear an elizabethan collar at all times. You must also prevent all trauma so no walks, running or jumping until the paw is fully healed. The paw shoudl be completely healed within 10-14 days from the time of the cut. If the paw still looks raw, has any discharge, pain or swelling at this time, Hercules needs to be examined by the veterinarian as this is abnormal and not expected. If at any point the cut shows any of these symptoms, he should be examined. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It looks from the picture that tilly has lost the outer hard shell from the nail. Although this will develop over time, if she's uncomfortable then surgical shortening of the soft, sensitive nail can improve recovery

Poor guy. It looks like he has a toenail injury there. If there is no active bleeding, no signs of infection and doesn't seem to bother Newt, then you can keep an eye on this for now. There is a mild area of irritation on the pawpad, but you can just monitor it for now to see if this gradually improves with the steroid he is on. Steroids do have good anti-inflammatory effects and the enrofloxacin is a good antibiotic that should keep this from getting infected. I hope that things continue to improve with Newt's paw and toenail. I am not sure when that bandage was placed, but make sure to have it either removed completely or changed out after its been there for 24 hrs, especially if it was used to wrap the toe.
