Why did my dog puke, become unresponsive, soil herself, and have a purple tongue?

It’s possible she had a seizure. If she does not steadily return to normal over the next few hours, it would be best to have her checked by your vet in the morning. Routine screeening bloodwork can help determine if a liver or kidney issue could be the cause of the seizure. Medical treatment for seizures is usually not started unless the pet has multiple seizures in one month, repeated seizures or a grand mal seizure lasting more than several minutes. Seizures generally have a pre-ictal phase where the pet is anxious and may vomit, the ictal phase during which paddling/convulsions are seen, and the post-ictal phase where the pet is disoriented and often wobbly. Tia may be dealing with seizures, or another type of neurological disease, or she may have heart condition causing her to have a condition called syncope, which can look similar to what you mentioned. It could mean a few things-likely liver disease is included in these problems but could be from many things. Without seeing your bloodwork results myself, it's hard to give you an exact answer as far as why they are elevated. Congenital issues like shunts can happen in the liver (changing the way blood moves back and forth in our bodies and is filtered), but what you are describing sounds a lot like seizure like activity. The tongue turning purple indicates a lack of oxygen in the blood-it could be a problem with circulation. If he is seemingly disoriented-there is a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (where the toxin buildup in the liver causes neurological symptoms like you have described). I would take your pet back to your veterinarian for a recheck-tell them your symptoms and see if they offer ultrasound or further testing. I'm so sorry Katana is so sick! Unfortunately there is nothing you can do at home to help Katana so she needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Sometimes low blood sugar can cause seizures so you can put honey on Katana's gums, but you do need take her to see a veterinarian immediately. Many things including toxin exposure can cause seizures and can be life threatening so again, it is very important to have Katana examined by a veterinarian. Hello, sorry to hear about Fuzzy. It sounds like she may have had a seizure and may be continuing to have mild forms of seizures. If Fuzzy continues to have these signs, she should be seen by a veterinarian as she may need to have medications and diagnostics to determine why she is suddenly having these events. Vomiting and bloody stools can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. Toy poodles can be prone to heart disease or she may have had a seizure. The excitement from the food and aggression may have been enough to accelerate her heart rate and its work load or trigger a seizure from stress.
