My dog has a pressure sore. What's the best way to treat it?

That's pretty severe for a pressure sore, and it looks like Stella sleeps on a comfortable bed. Pressure sores usually occur from a dog lying on a hard service. In addition, they don't show up like this all of a sudden, they get worse slowly over time. I'm concerned this could be from an injury. You need to have her seen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated.

This looks like it could be a pressure sore from King lying on a hard surface a lot. Make sure he has a soft bed to lay down on. Keep an eye on it, and if it gets bigger or it appears to bother him (he starts licking or chewing at it), have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear that Cookie is having this problem. From your pictures, it looks like the center of the area is a little raw, but crusted over and the entire area looks a little red. Unfortunately, dogs with Cushing's disease have a suppressed immune system, so they have a harder time healing and are more likely to develop infections. For that reason, I would have Cookie evaluated by your veterinarian before that area get infected. I think you will have a very hard time getting it to heal by itself without some professional help and medication. It could be a pressure sore. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep an eye on it to make sure there is no sign of infection. Help move her so she isn't laying on it, and pad up her nesting area with lots of blanket to soften the area.

This looks very nasty. This likely is a bacterial dermatitis which needs to be seen urgently by a veterinarian. Unfortunately these tend to spread like wildfire, Maybe you could ask your vet to see you inbetween clients. If that is not possible, I suggest clipping as much hair off the wound and around it until you see healthy skin, You will be surprised that the sore is much bigger than it appears, Once you have done that, wash it with some chlorhexidine or wound wash available in your pharmacy or drugstore, Pat dry, and put some Neosporine ointment on the area, Unfortunately there are no OTC pain killers available for this kind of wound. Your dog will need to have another wound treatment at your vet and will need oral prescription antibiotics and possibly will be given an ointment. Do not put any ointment on the lesion tomorrow before you go to the vet so he can examine the skin properly. Do not let your puppy lick this wound. Poor Scrappy. It is difficult to see details as the picture is blurry. It almost looks like a mass in the picture. I would make she isn't licking or scratching it. I would put a cone collar on her to prevent the licking if needed. I would also have your vet take a look at it. With how red and ulcerated it is, she likely needs some antibiotics and may need to have it removed. I hope this helps.

This is very concerning and appears to be a moist dermatitis, likely caused by a bacterial infection. Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian asap for an exam, clean up of the lesion which includes shaving the hair off all the way into healthy areas of the skin to see the extent, a possible skin swab and, depending on the diagnosis, prescription antibiotics in tablet or ointment form.
