My pregnant dog's x-ray at 38 days shows no pups. Is it too soon?

It is possible that this is a false pregnancy, but the only way to really tell is with an x-ray or ultrasound exam. At this point of her pregnancy it may be difficult to feel individual puppies, especially due to size of the puppies & if this is a rather large litter. An increased respiratory rate could be a direct result of her pregnancy putting increased pressure on her diaphragm. I think it is well worth an x-ray to know how many puppies are there. Unfortunately I cannot tell you how many puppies Rosy has left. i would recommend taking her to a vet for a current x-ray to see if any puppies remain and if so how many. Dog can really range in how many puppies especially with there first litter. Typically if they stop pushing /having signs of contractions they could be done with delivery but an x-ray would be best. hope the helps

It is best to wait until about 45 days of pregnancy to get an x-ray. That is when the skeletons will be formed enough to show up on the x-rays. Yes, Revolution is safe for use in pregnant dogs. Good questions!

At this stage of gestation, if she is pregnant, puppies will be visible on an x-ray. This will confirm the pregnancy as well as give you an idea of how many puppies she is expecting. This will be extremely helpful knowledge while she is in labor. You will know when she is done or if she is struggling, you know more puppies are coming and to seek help. In the meantime, feed her a high quality puppy food to supply her with extra calories and nutrition. I hope this information helps!

Because Pixie tied, there is a possibility that she is pregnant. Typically the more obvious signs of pregnancy are seen until later in a dog's pregnancy, and the only way to know for sure if she is pregnant is to have her seen by a vet. I would wait until at least 45 days after she tied to take her into the vet. At this point, the vet can do x-rays to diagnose that she is pregnant, and will be able to see the puppies on the x-rays to count how many she is having.

If she became pregnant on June 18, then Brownie is 57 days along. It is possible that she is starting to create milk. Dogs do not always "look" pregnant, especially if she is having a small litter. She is far enough along to have your vet do an x-ray to check for puppies. I recommend this also so that you will know how many puppies to expect while she is labor. It is possible that she is not pregnant and is exhibiting signs associated with false pregnancy. Most dogs will clear a false pregnancy on their own without treatment.
