She may not be pregnant, the date may be incorrect or she may not have a large litter. Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Pregnancy can be confirmed via palpation, blood test or abdominal x-ray or ultrasound. The imaging may diagnose any other underlying condition as well.

It is possible that this is a false pregnancy, but the only way to really tell is with an x-ray or ultrasound exam. At this point of her pregnancy it may be difficult to feel individual puppies, especially due to size of the puppies & if this is a rather large litter. An increased respiratory rate could be a direct result of her pregnancy putting increased pressure on her diaphragm. I think it is well worth an x-ray to know how many puppies are there. If he belly wasn't big and she was producing milk she could be experiencing a false pregnancy. I would count back to when she was in heat. Dogs are pregnant for about 63 days. They do have a temperature drop most of the time BUT not always. It usually drops below 99 a few hours to 1 day before the start of labor. Dogs can start to product milk up to a week to a few days before labor. It is hard to feel the puppies move. If you want to confirm the number of puppies make a Vet appointment to have an X-ray taken to count the skeletons. Since she is so small it is good to talk to your Vet in case you run in to complications where you may require their help with delivery or a C-section. My guess is that she is due very soon, less than 7 days. I hope this helps!

Now is a good time in the pregnancy to have a checkup done at your vet to ensure mom and babies are doing well and start mom on a puppy food to increase the amount of nutrition she is getting to feed the puppies during development and lactation Your vet may recommend an ultrasound to see them and count them. As she nears the end of her pregnancy, around 60-65 days, you'll want to have an X-ray taken to count number of babies (if you don't know by then) to know how many to expect, and make sure a whelping box is ready for her to use when she goes into labor.

Hello, It's possible that Belea is pregnant, but I also worry that she could have an infected uterus (pyometra) that could also cause her to have a decreased appetite. Pyometra is a surgical emergency and requires very different care than a normal pregnancy. I'd recommend taking her to her veterinarian. They can confirm a pregnancy or uterine problem with imaging. If she only has one or two she’d be at more risk for needing a c-section. I would have your Vet take an X-ray at day 50 to confirm pregnancy and to count puppies. Write down the date she was bred. Dogs are pregnant 60-63 days. Starting at day 55 start taking her temperature daily rectally. Stage 1 labor tends to start 24 hrs once the temperature drops below 99 F. But your Vet can help you and go over concerns once we know she is pregnant and size of the litter. I hope this helps and good luck!

Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell based only on the appearance of her belly. Weight gain, and loss of muscle tone, can both lead to a dropped appearance as well. We look at other signs, such as development of her mammary glands.
