My dog's nipples leak but no belly. Is she pregnant or false?

She appears pregnant from the photos but there is no way for me to diagnose pregnancy via the internet. Dogs are pregnant for 62-65 days so if it’s been that long without her delivering I suggest you get her to a vet for an exam. I doubt this is false pregnancy. At 59 days the puppies should be visible. Milk can show up in the mammary glands a day or so or up to a week before birth. Another possibility is a false pregnancy. This is a hormonal imbalance that occurs after a dog is in heat. They are not pregnant but the hormonal imbalance convinces the body that they are. The dog can produce milk, nest, carry toys around like puppies and act anxious. It usually lasts the length of a pregnancy which is 60-63 days. I hope this helps!

Puppy heart beats can be detected on ultrasound at 28 days gestation and we can see their skeletons on X-rays around 50 days. She could be pregnant or she could be suffering from a false pregnancy which occurs after they have a heat cycle from a hormonal imbalance. This imbalance causes the body to think it is pregnant when it actually isn't. The dog can develop mammary glands, produce milk, nest, carry stuffed animals around like babies, act anxious. It resolves with in 2-3 months. I would make an appointment with your Vet to see if you can confirm or deny pregnancy. I wish you the best!

Yes, it certainly does sound possible that Mocha is pregnant since she did mate with a male, although as you mention, a false pregnancy (pseudopregnancy) is also possible. Another possible cause of her vaginal discharge is a pyometra (uterine infection). On average, a dog gestation is 62-65 days. Options at this point are to take Mocha to a vet to confirm the pregnancy or rule out a pyometra through x-rays, ultrasound or blood tests, or closely monitor her for another month to see if she delivers puppies. Should you decide to take the wait and see approach, be sure to feed her puppy food rather than adult dog food, as it is higher in calories to help during a pregnancy. If Mocha does not deliver puppies, she will need to be examined by her vet to discuss management of her condition. All of that said, if Mocha becomes lethargic, stops eating, or experiences changes to her vaginal discharge, she should be examined by a vet immediately to rule out a possible pyometra, as this can become a life threatening emergency. Not all dogs get a big belly when pregnant, just like how human women are get pregnant differently. It could be Princesses is pregnant and the discharge is milk, but there could also be an infection causing it. I would have her seen by a vet for this problem. Unfortunately you can't tell if this is a real pregnancy or a false pregnancy without an ultrasound at this stage. At 22 days, the fetal heart beats can be detected on an ultrasound. At 45 days, the fetal skeletons can be seen on an x-ray. Depending on the size of the mother and the amount of puppies, the fetuses may be palpated in the final weeks of pregnancy. There is always a possibility of any female dog who is not spayed for pregnancy. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian. She looks small and so it would be recommended to take a radiograph to see if puppies are present or not. Small breed dogs are more prone to problems giving birth so it is important to know how many puppies to expect. She likely is not caught up on vaccines or anything either if you have not had her examined yet so you need to discuss the preventive care that she needs to keep her and the puppies healthy if she is pregnant.
