Is it safe for my dog to get pregnant again 6 months after puppies?

Typically dogs go into heat once every six months, but if she didn't nurse the puppies, it is possible she has gone into heat again; however, that's not a common occurrence. Given that Zeva has abandoned her puppies, it is indicative that she has poor mothering ability. This could be due to her age (it's never recommended to breed a dog on her first heat), or she may simply not have good mother abilities. Based on this, I would not recommend breeding her again, and I would have her spayed. Spaying her will abort a pregnancy now if she is pregnant, and prevent future litters from occurring. There is a shot that can be done to terminate a pregnancy, but it has to be done right after mating. I would take her into a vet now.

If he is much larger than her then she may have a hard time passing the puppies as they can be too larger. They are pregnant for 58-63 days. Around day 45 you can get an X-ray to get an estimate of how many to expect and to make sure none are to large to pass. It is not ideal that she has bred so young but mainly the concern is the sie is the puppies

Hello, it is recommended that dogs are older than a year of age and have had at least one heat cycle before they are bred to have puppies. This to ensure the bitch has developed fully in growth and breeding capacity. I would recommend having a pre-breeding exam with your veterinarian to ensure she is a good candidate for breeding and to determine when the best time for her to be bred is. Thank you for more information on your dog and the situation. A dog's pregnancy lasts between 58-68 days. Spaying her is still possible, but it's up to the vet to decide if they want to do it or not. As I said, there are vets who do not like to spay pregnant dogs that are far along in their pregnancy. I would give local vet clinics a call to see they would be willing to spay her. Hello. In general, dogs will come into heat every 6 months. Another in heat dog will not induce your dog to come back into heat, or estrus, but do have her spayed as soon as possible. Not all dogs follow the rules so she could come into heat a little earlier than expected. And dogs can be spayed when in heat. It is a little more dangerous in terms of bleeding, & so vets often charge a little more to spay a dog in heat. So Bella should not come back into heat until late May or June.
