My dog's not showing at 41 days but has milk. Is she pregnant?

If she became pregnant on June 18, then Brownie is 57 days along. It is possible that she is starting to create milk. Dogs do not always "look" pregnant, especially if she is having a small litter. She is far enough along to have your vet do an x-ray to check for puppies. I recommend this also so that you will know how many puppies to expect while she is labor. It is possible that she is not pregnant and is exhibiting signs associated with false pregnancy. Most dogs will clear a false pregnancy on their own without treatment. Because Pixie tied, there is a possibility that she is pregnant. Typically the more obvious signs of pregnancy are seen until later in a dog's pregnancy, and the only way to know for sure if she is pregnant is to have her seen by a vet. I would wait until at least 45 days after she tied to take her into the vet. At this point, the vet can do x-rays to diagnose that she is pregnant, and will be able to see the puppies on the x-rays to count how many she is having.

Just like humans, some dogs don't get as big as others when they are pregnant - often, this has to do with how many puppies are present and how large they are. So yes, she could still be pregnant even if her belly doesn't look big. If you want to know for sure, you can take her to the vet for x-rays or an ultrasound to see if any puppies are present.

It does sound like your Minnie is indeed pregnant. If she is 54 days pregnant today she will likely have her puppies within the next 10 or 11 days. Bitches gain weight from approximately the 40 th day on as the puppies grow. The mammary glandas also start developing and getting ready for lactation. Being moody and tired would also be normal. There is always a possibility of any female dog who is not spayed for pregnancy. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian. She looks small and so it would be recommended to take a radiograph to see if puppies are present or not. Small breed dogs are more prone to problems giving birth so it is important to know how many puppies to expect. She likely is not caught up on vaccines or anything either if you have not had her examined yet so you need to discuss the preventive care that she needs to keep her and the puppies healthy if she is pregnant. Homegirl definitely has fairly prominent abdominal distension! Dogs' gestation typically lasts 62-65 days, so I suppose it is still possible that she may be nearing the end of a pregnancy. However, if she has not had any changes to her mammary glands (I did not see any noticeable change in the photo from March), it is unlikely that she is approaching the end of a pregnancy. Abdominal distension this prominent in the absence of pregnancy could be due to fluid (a sign of liver failure, right sided heart failure, infection, etc.) or a benign or malignant mass, all of which can be quite severe. At this point, Homegirl should be examined by a vet urgently to evaluate her overall health and may need to take x-rays or perform an ultrasound of her abdomen to get to the bottom of this issue.
