My dog shows pregnancy signs: nipples, nesting, 8 weeks post-heat?

Hello, I do see that her nipples and mammary glands are more developed in some of her pictures. Pregnancy in canines can range between 55-65 days and development of mammary glands is most noticeable towards the end of pregnancy. Based on what I’m seeing there is a chance she could be pregnant, however you’d be able to confirm this with an X-ray or an ultrasound. I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian when possible to confirm she is pregnant and ensure she is in good health to undergo a pregnancy. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It does sound like from your description that Shiloh could be pregnant again. The best way to confirm this is to take her into the vet for an exam. If you have an idea of when she was mated, then the vet can run tests to get a closer approximation of how far along she is in the pregnancy. For example, a blood test looking for the hormone relaxin can be done starting at 22 days gestation. If she is further along in the pregnancy, then x-rays and an ultrasound can be done. Given her age, I would start saving now for the chance she may need a c-section. That's because older dogs can have more difficulties giving birth due to age, and it's best to be prepared for that now both financially and emotionally. I would also recommend getting her spayed after this litter. It's never recommended to breed dogs older than 6-7 years of age, and spaying her would prevent future litters from happening, as well as eliminating the possibility of a pyometra (a life threatening infection of the uterus). I would take Shiloh into the vet tomorrow for an exam :-)

There is always a possibility of any female dog who is not spayed for pregnancy. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian. She looks small and so it would be recommended to take a radiograph to see if puppies are present or not. Small breed dogs are more prone to problems giving birth so it is important to know how many puppies to expect. She likely is not caught up on vaccines or anything either if you have not had her examined yet so you need to discuss the preventive care that she needs to keep her and the puppies healthy if she is pregnant. If Bella has been in heat recently (within the last two months) and has had contact with an intact male, then yes she could be pregnant. The only way to know for sure is to have her seen by a vet. If she’s far enough along in a pregnancy, the vet can do x-rays to see how many puppies she is carrying. I would take her into a vet this week. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately there's no way to tell for sure at home. I would certainly say that Zaria appears to be either obese or pregnant, and given that she has mammary gland enlargement as well as being overweight I'd bet on pregnancy, especially if she's been around an intact male. But the only way to tell for sure is to take her in to see her vet. Very rarely we can palpate (feel) puppies but the best tool is x-ray - an x-ray taken of her abdomen at this point would likely for sure reveal puppies if she's pregnant.

It may mean Pinkie didn't get pregnant when she mated with your male, or she could be pregnant or suffering a false pregnancy. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd take her into the vet in a couple of weeks to see if she is pregnant or not. Best of luck.
