My dog might be pregnant. What are the signs and should I limit her exercise?

There are certain physical signs that a dog is pregnant, such as an enlarged belly, enlarged nipples, increased appetite, lethargy, firm abdomen, and nesting behavior among others. The best way to know if Gypsie is pregnant, however, is to have her seen by a vet. The vet can do a blood test, x-rays, and/or ultrasound to confirm if she is pregnant. Veterinary care during a dog's pregnancy is quite important, so she should see a vet as soon as possible. I would certainly say that Zaria appears to be either obese or pregnant, and given that she has mammary gland enlargement as well as being overweight I'd bet on pregnancy, especially if she's been around an intact male. Hello, I do see that her nipples and mammary glands are more developed in some of her pictures. Pregnancy in canines can range between 55-65 days and development of mammary glands is most noticeable towards the end of pregnancy. Based on what I’m seeing there is a chance she could be pregnant, however you’d be able to confirm this with an X-ray or an ultrasound. The best way to tell how far along she is in her pregnancy is to take her into your vet for an exam. The vet can do a blood test looking for the hormone relaxin that is produced at 22 days gestation or later. Further along in her pregnancy, x-rays and an ultrasound can be done to better pinpoint at which point she is at in her gestation.
