Dog suddenly pooping inside after daycare. Is it the concrete?

There is no one reason on why dogs will all of a sudden start pooping in the house. I would recommend going back to crate training Cali. I would keep Cali in the crate when you cannot keep 100% watch on her. When she comes out of the crate I would then walk her. If she goes then I would play with her and once you have to turn your back she goes back in the crate. If she does not go to the bathroom when you take her out of the crate I would put her back in for 20 minutes and try again. If you catch Cali going to the bathroom tell her no and take her and put her where you want her to go and praise her for going. If you just see the accident then clean it up and do not say anything to Cali. A crate should be big enough for her to stand up, sit down and turn around. The crate is a very safe option and dogs end up loving their crates, it's their safe house. I would try this route. I would also recommend getting a stool sample performed at your veterinarian's office. This will rule out intestinal parasites. Possible medical issues include colitis (inflammation in the colon), infections, parasites or metabolic issues like inflammatory bowel disease or liver disease. Behavioral issues can stem from changes in routine, stress or fear. If your household routine has changed in preparation for the upcoming addition, it is possible that Phoebe is reacting to this. Other possibilities include stress or anxiety caused by things inside and out. If Phoebe has had a scary episode such as slipping on a floor, falling down stairs or being frightened by a person or noise outside, this could cause anxiety about going outside. My recommendation would be to look for other signs of anxiety such as hiding behavior or fear about going outside in general. If you do not notice these, it may be worth taking a stool sample to your veterinarian to check for parasites and possibly scheduling an appointment to address your concerns.

The two most common reasons for this problem are either a medical problem or a behavioral problem. I would recommend starting with having your veterinarian check a fecal sample on Chloe. My dog starting having accidents like you describe when she was around a year old, and we found a microscopic intestinal parasite. Once we treated it, her accidents stopped. The other possibility is that Chloe is holding her stool on a walk because she wants the walk to continue. If Foxy is housebroken, her going to the bathroom inside could be a sign she is sick. She may have diarrhea, causing her to have to go more than usual. I'd take her into the vet today to get checked out. Best of luck.

It sounds like Eloise has developed some separation anxiety. I would recommend first getting a crate to keep her in while you are gone. This will help prevent her from destroying the house and keep her safe so she doesn't get into anything that could harm her. Crate training can take a few weeks but once she is used to the crate she will begin to feel safe there. I would also recommend taking her on a fast paced walk before you have to crate her to help drain some of her nervous energy. You can also try giving her a chew toy like a kong while in the crate to keep her distracted. If these tactics do not work I would recommend talking to your vet about starting her on an anti anxiety medication. Good luck.

It sounds like Eli isn't fully potty trained yet. I recommend using the basics. 1) have a set daily schedule. As soon as you wake up take her out, as soon as she's done eating, as soon as she's done playing, and before she goes to bed. 2) meal feeding- this helps determine when she needs to potty. What goes in will push the stool out usually within 15-30 minutes. 3) Use a lot of praise when Eli goes potty outside. Lastly, I recommend making the space within her crate smaller, either by buying a smaller crate or blocking off the back end so she only has enough space to stand up and turn around. If she has enough room to poop in one corner and sleep in another, she will have a hard time separating her bathroom from her den. Good luck and kisses to Eli!
