My dog got perfume in her mouth or nose. Should I be worried?

It is unlikely that it is toxic to Bella, but you should keep an eye on her for any vomiting or lethargy over the next several hours. Likely nothing will happen if it was just a light spray. In general these products will cause irritation the to nasal passage way. If you have any concerns, I recommend to call the manufacturer of the perfume. They will be familiar with the safety studies and will be able to tell you if the ingredients have toxic risks. I would be concerned that she jumped because she fractured a tooth or injured herself on the can. She may have just been startled. A small amount of air freshener is likely to be bitter and may cause besides and vomiting. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marley. She should be seen by a vet if you think she is painful in the mouth (hypersalivating, guarding, etc) or is vomiting or lethargic. I hope this helps and that all is well with Marley!

In the long term, this is probably neither safe nor healthy. The ingredients may cause stomach upset if licked and ingested. Perfume may also irritate the eyes if it gets into them during spraying. A dog's nose is much more sensitive than the human nose, so perfume may be irritating.

Hello, thank you for your question. Labs can be so mischievous! Based on your description I think that your dogs should be ok. If dogs ingest a large amount of alcohol they can experience side effects. However I believe that the small amount should not cause sever symptoms. I would recommend monitoring your dogs overnight, if at anytime they became unsteady on their feet or weak I would have them seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

Not so good. I would recommend that you call ASPCA's poison control number. That number is 888-426-4435. There is a $65 charge, but they will be able to best advise you.
