My Pekingese has a perforated ulcer and blockage. Is his treatment correct?

In the past in the UK we used to prescribe Antepsin syrup or tablets for gastric ulcers, in addition to analgesic medications (no antinflammatories !) and antiacids. It used to be a human medication so needed informed consent from the owners and compliance to the cascade (it could be used in cases where no other authorised animal medication was available). Unfortunately then there was a shortage in his availability and other medications had to be used on their own.. Antepsin, or sulcralfate, created a barrier between the ulcer and the acid content of the stomach. The antiacids now are still used, and their active drug is either omeprazole and/or ranitidine.

Poor Gizmo! I do not recommend to make any changes without speaking with your regular veterinarian but I think trying something different is a good idea since Gizmo is still having problems. You may try the Omeprazole if your vet thinks it may help. Best of luck.

Snoopy has to see a vet immediately. This ulcer needs to be cleaned in a sterile manner, and may need be sutured to help it heal. Please do not give him any more of your daughter's penicillin. It's never safe or recommended to self treat your animal, and you could be giving him an incorrect dose that may do harm to him. This will be painful to him, and he likely needs pain medications to treat this. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Snoopy needs to see a vet now for this for treatment and safe medications. Please bring him into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see him now.

Based on this picture, that looks like a fairly superficial corneal ulceration. Oral antibiotics are not the treatment for this sort of issue, as direct ophthalmic medications will be required. The treatment will be aimed at preventing secondary infection,, reducing inflammation / pain, and mending the corneal surface. Otis will also need to wear a cone to make sure that he doesn't try and scratch at the eye and make matters worse for himself. This issue is not life-threatening, but the ulcer will definitely get worse if it is not treated quickly and properly, particularly if he is the kind of dog that will bother at it. If you've been to the vet already, he may have put a stain in the eye and then looked with a special light to see the actual depth of the ulcer. He will be able to tell you if the ulcer is actually superficial or if goes deeper than it appears in the picture. Hope this all makes sense.

Throwing up bile is quite concerning, and her ulcers may be acting up despite the medication. It could be she needs a higher dose of her medication, but I cannot advise making any change to her medication without seeing her in person. She also should not be peeing while on Proin, so I'm wondering if she has a UTI causing the urinating. She does need to see a vet for these issues. It depends on what exactly the issue is with the pyloric sphincter. Sometimes surgery is needed. Other times symptoms can be controlled with high fiber diets, medications that help GI motility (like metoclpromide), and medication to help reduce acid in the stomach (like famotidine and omeprazole). It looks like Dylan may have a melting ulcer or a descemetocoele, which is a serious problem that can result in loss of the eye. I would take him to your veterinarian right away as this would constitute an ocular emergency.
