Dog penis discharge and painful testicles after bath. Is it serious?

I am not sure what this area truly looks like. I would try picking hip up with back against your stomach and chest and having someone else snap the photo of his genital area. If there is green discharge and pain then he likely has an infection. Hydrogen peroxide should be stopped immediately, because in pets this can actually cause the normal cells to die off on the skin. You can try using Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water or Chlorhexidine 3% diluted with water to antiseptically cleanse the area. Soaking him in a warm water Epsom salt bath for 5-10 minutes can also help alleviate some irritation and inflammation. I would also visit your local pet store and purchase an e-collar to place on him so that he can't continue licking the area and causing further irritation and pain. Hopefully this will help maintain him until he is seen by your vet on Monday. Poor guy. I wish you all the best and hopefully the vet can clean the area well, flush out any debris or foreign material that may be lodged in the penile sheath, and then place him on medications (i.e. antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications) to help resolve this. Poor Timmy! That looks very painful. It's difficult to say for sure from just the picture but it appears that Timmy's scrotum and testicles are infected or even that the scrotum has ruptured. Tummy needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away as he will likely need surgery and prescription antibiotics to treat this issue. He will need to wear an e-collar to prevent him from licking the area. He will also need prescription pain medication as this looks very painful. Yes, I would be concerned about Guapo in that this redness and discharge can indicate an infection. From the pictures, it look like the discharge could be pus. He could have an infection of the prepuce (the penile sheath), or he could have a UTI or bladder stones causing these symptoms. I would gently wipe the area with warm water on a soft cloth, and have him seen by a vet. The vet can examine him and diagnose what is causing this redness and discharge so he can be treated. Taking him into a vet today would be best if possible. When dogs have infections, they can lick the area because it's uncomfortable to them, but licking it will make it worse. I would put an Ecollar on him if you notice him licking his penis area. You can make one at home or you can buy one at a pet shop. Thank you for providing pictures of your dog's penis! That is not normal at all, and he could have a severe infection or may have injured his penis. I'm very concerned by the appearance of it, especially the purplish bruised area. It looks very swollen, and in my opinion he needs veterinary care now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

I am sorry to hear about Hueso! It does like quite irritated here and I would be concerned he could have developed an infection of the skin or of the penis beneath the prepuce (the skin sheath of hte penis which is what we are seeing here). It is possible if he was repeatedly trying to breed with your female he caused repeated trauma to the skin and made it susceptible to bacterial infection. I would recommend getting him to the vet to examine the area. In the meantime, I would get an e-collar for him (the cone shaped collar) so he isn't licking the area and causing more irritation, and clean the area with a mild soap and apply a topical antibiotic ointment.

Poor Luke! I worry he has some edema (swelling) and possibly an infection in that area. If he isn’t overweight and he doesn’t normal have this “pouch” around his prepuce then I would try to get him seen by a vet. The vet will be able to ensure his penis looks okay and there is no loss of circulation and see if he needs some anti-inflammatories and antibiotics to help it go down. I hope this helps!

Chico could have a urethral prolapse, an infection or some type of trauma to that area. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Without treatment that tissue could become dead/necrotic, he could have trouble urinating which leads to other issues like kidney failure as well as long term damage like scarring. Do not give him any human medications as it can be toxic to dogs. Keep him from licking at the area and remove and discharge with a warm, moist, clean cloth.
