My dog's swollen, red, hot genitals have milky discharge. Emergency?

Chico could have a urethral prolapse, an infection or some type of trauma to that area. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Without treatment that tissue could become dead/necrotic, he could have trouble urinating which leads to other issues like kidney failure as well as long term damage like scarring. Do not give him any human medications as it can be toxic to dogs. Keep him from licking at the area and remove and discharge with a warm, moist, clean cloth.

Thank you for providing pictures of your dog's penis! That is not normal at all, and he could have a severe infection or may have injured his penis. I'm very concerned by the appearance of it, especially the purplish bruised area. It looks very swollen, and in my opinion he needs veterinary care now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. This is, unfortunately, a pretty serious problem. I would say it is an emergency and he should be seen right away. If the tissue gets too compromised it may need to be amputated. I suggest you put some vaseline or other lubricant on it right away and then get him to the vet.

If you are seeing insect activity on Judge's body, whether it is the penis or anywhere else, there is an extreme infection and necrotic tissue that needs to be debrided by a veterinarian. This is not something that should wait until tomorrow and should likely be dealt with this evening at an emergency facility. The foul odor you are smelling is not the penis itself, but the infection and toxins that are being released from it. The vet is going to have to investigate what has happened, in terms of an underlying cause for the swelling and necrosis. As for cancer, it is impossible to know this without diagnostic testing from a veterinarian. Cancer of the genital organs in a young dog would be somewhat uncommon but not impossible.

Hi, I believe you are referring to pharaphamosis. The glands in the penis swell and the penis can get stuck outside the skin. This occurs in unneutered young dogs who are sexually mature. To reduce the swelling, try an ice pack wrapped in a wet towel to the groin area. Also, lubricate it with a water based lubricant and gently massage it to try to get it back in the skin. Sugar applied to the penis itself can help reduce swelling. These things should get the penis back down and normal again. If not and it is stuck outside for more than 6 hours with no improvement, he needs to go to an emergency vet or the penis could be damaged. Good luck!

Yes, I would recommend having him examine by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It is hard to say for sure from the blurry photo but it appears as though the tip of the penis is stuck out of the prepuce. It looks as though Oliver has paraphimosis (inability to completely retract the penis into the prepuce) and this can be caused by a number of things.
