My dog is peeing a lot indoors. Is it a UTI or something else?

In an older dog, this could be caused by something like diabetes or kidney disease. Having Violet seen by a vet tomorrow is a very good idea. The vet can do a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis to check for the things I mentioned above. I hope this helps.

As for the indoor accidents, when a dog who is normally potty trained starts having accidents in the house, this can be a sign of a medical issue such as a UTI or bladder stones. It could also be he has an increase in drinking leading to an increase in urination. A disease like diabetes can cause this as well. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning to be safe. I would not get too worried over two episodes. I recommend watching his water intake and urination over the next week or so. If you notice that both remain elevated he should get checked out by a veterinarian as it could be signs of early diseases like kidney issues and Cushing's disease. Also monitor him for any blood in his urine, dribbling, or straining to urinate as it could indicate an infection or even stones.

Inappropriate urination can be due to many different factors including: - urinary tract infections - urinary bladder inflammation (cystitis) which can be due to stress - urinary stones - diabetes - cushing's disease - hypothyroidism - pyometra (not related to Pongo because this only occurs in females) - behavioural I recommend having Pongo seen by your vet, and they will likely check a urine sample to look for stones. Dalmations are very prone to a certain type of stone, so this is the most likely cause. Pongo might be at risk of a urethral blockage (can be fatal) if stones are present and get stuck in the urethra, so getting this diagnosed early is important. I recommend a visit to the vet when they are open for a urine check, and possible x-rays or ultrasound. Not all stones show up on x-rays. Best of luck with Pongo!

You don't indicate whether Opal is spayed or not, but I would add that urination while sleeping is often a sign of a condition called hormonal incontinence (also "spay incontinence") which is caused by the lack of estrogen that happens once we spay dogs. I would definitely get her checked out as she may have a UTI as Dr. Melanie indicated, or an incontinence issue.

A sterile urine sample should be collected and submitted for urinalysis and urine culture/sensitivity. This may identify the organism responsible as well as the best antibiotic to use in treatment. Your vet may recommend abdominal x-rays or ultrasound to rule out kidney or bladder stones. Given current events, you may need to drop her off at the clinic then wait for the doctor to call you to discuss exam findings and treatment options.
