Can my dog get her parvo vaccine while on Meloxicam for leg pain?

Poor Oka. I would recommend taking her to the vet for her vaccine and allowing your vet to determine if she should be vaccinated. This also will allow the vet to check her leg and make sure everything is okay. Hope that helps

This can affect any size dog. Little very loved dogs tend to show pain more than others. The more one feels sorry for them and tells them "poor baby" the more they yelp. This is because they are very clever and figure out it is a great way to get attention. They are in pain, no doubt, but tend to dramatize it a bit more than the big dogs. Pain in the leg from vaccination can sort of spread to the rest of the body. THere are nerves everywhere and some nerves sympathize with others. This is not unusual. Rimadyl is an antiinflammatory which will alleviate a lot of the pain, if not all. Depending on the weight of your dog you need to give it exactly as prescribed by your vet. The pain should subside fairly quickly and overall you should not need to give it any longer than prescribed. Overall, not a nice side effect, but not unusual, and manageable.

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to give the dose information for any drug without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your dog. You need to take Demi into the vet who can prescribe Meloxicam to him and can give him the correct dose.

I would talk to your veterinarian about medications that will be safe for Jax while hes healing. While melatonin is not likely to cause harm, I am not convinced that it would work very well either. Your vet should have a couple of options available that should be safe with the Previcox.

I'm so sorry that Zeke is painful after his vaccination. Unfortunately, pain at the injection site is a possible side effect of vaccinations and some small dogs tend to become achy and painful all over. I would recommend contacting your veterinarian. There are some prescription pain medications that can be very helpful in decreasing pain and inflammation associated with vaccination. I will typically use Metacam which works very well. You may also ask your veterinarian if Zeke should have pain medication in the future before his vaccinations, so he does not have this problem again. Good luck! Unfortunately, a well-documentive side effect of Meloxicam (and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) is that it causes decreased blood flow to the kidneys, sometimes resulting in kidney damage. If Candy has been diagnosed with kidney problems, she definitely should no longer take Meloxicam. Your vet can discuss other alternative for pain control, including Tramadol, gabapentin, acupuncture, and physical therapy. The Azodyl can certainly be continued, but I would not give the Meloxicam, and likely she'll never be able to take it again.

Puppy vaccines are started at 6 weeks and include parvo. They are repeated every 3 weeks until the last injection is given at 16 weeks of age, then it boostered yearly. If he is hurting in his rear legs, limit his ability to jump and run. Try to let him rest until you can take him to a vet to see why there is pain and what medicines they can safely prescribe for his age.
