Puppy recovered from parvo. Is it safe to vaccinate and go outside?

If Nala is eating and drinking normally, has no more diarrhea or vomiting, and isn't lethargic, then she is fully recovered from parvo. If she is fully recovered, you can take her out into the yard to potty.

Thanks for using PetCoach. Depending on the severity of the couse of disease, it can take some puppies several weeks to fully recover. Be sure to feed the food her vet recommends and offer small amounts of food frequently. Do not allow her to eat all she wants at one time. Zoe may be contagious to other puppies for up to 3-4 weeks so should be kept away from other dogs and pups. Depending on how she is doing the vet may recommend vaccination anywhere from 1-3 weeks after she starts eating. She cannot contract Parvo again but does need to be vaccinated against other diseases. Hi there. If the puppy previously had parvo and is now recovered, she should be fine - there is really no need to "prove" she's now negative, as it's not a chronic disease. Once the clinical signs have resolved and the dog is acting normal again, they've recovered and can go on with normal life. They will also be immune to parvo going forward, much like human kids with chicken pox. :)

Luckily since Princess is an adult dog and has been vaccinated it's unlikely she would get sick. You've done a good job with cleaning also so it is safe for her to go into your room again. I am glad to hear that Esther is feeling better. Most of these puppies should eat a G.I. friendly diet and not regular puppy food for at least 10 days. Your veterinarian carries special prescription foods that are easy to digest and provide all the needed nutrients. As far as it goes with your other puppy, they should not be together until the other puppy is fully vaccinated. Vaccines do take about 7 to 10 days to take full effect. If you have questions about the efficacy of the vaccines, call your veterinarian. Vaccines given by the veterinarian tend to be more effective than vaccines given at home. Yes, this sounds like it's probably normal. Parvo is a serious disease, and it will take time for her to get her energy back and be fully recovered. As long as she is eating and drinking, and has not been vomiting, I would just give her some time. She should be back to her old self within the next few days :)
