Dog panting, scratching after rabies vaccine and flea treatment?

Chief may be having a vaccine reaction or may just be having pain from the vaccine. I recommend to call your veterinarian and let them know what is happening. They may ask to see him again or they may have you give him an antihistamine. I hope he feels better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Panting is usually a sign of serious respiratory distress in cats and I would not expect this as a side effect of nitenpyram or piperazine. I would recommend taking Pudge to an emergency veterinarian if you continue to see him panting. If he has fleas it's not uncommon for them to cause discomfort or increased itchiness as they start to die so I wouldn't be concerned about scratching. Nitenpyram only lasts about 24 hours so you should follow up with a longer term flea preventative.

Poor girl. Panting and drinking a lot of water can indicate that she is having a hypersensitivity reaction to the product. Although this product is considred safe for pets, it has been known to have more side effects than some other products on the market. If she is settled now then that is a good sign that she may be recovering from this. The Benadryl should help her with her mild reaction. Continue to monitor Legend for any signs of a serious problem which includes: excessive vomiting, continuous panting for more than 30 mins or so, severe lethargy (unresponsiveness, etc), lack of appetite, or pale gums. If seen then Legend needs to see your local vet (or ER vet) right away for treatment. I hope that Legend continues to improve with the Benadryl, and I would definitely recommend avoiding this medication in the future. This happens particularly often when a cat mange to lick and ingest some of the product. These symptoms are usually mild and go away after 1-2hrs. If your Fennekin was acting like that, I suspect it was reaction to the flea treatment. If she is calm now, you need to monitor her at home for the next few hours. However, if she continues to breath fast or breath with open mouth, please take her to your nearest vets without delay.

Hello. I am totally unable to decipher the writing in your picture, but it is possibly that Bruno had a mild allergic reaction to one of the injections. Fortunately, once the immediate symptoms are gone, there is usually no long lasting effects. As long as he is resting comfortably, he should continue to recover. Vaccinations often make the puppy tired, as the body is busy making antibodies. I's say, monitor her for vomiting, diarrhea, breathing problems, and if they appear or the panting appears to be turning into a breathing problem, or if she appears ill, then take her back to the vet for a recheck.

This is absolutely no problem. We often vaccinate against rabies more often when dogs need to travel abroad and need to show a particularly high vaccination titer. It is a normal side effect that your dog is a bit tired after the vaccination.
