My puppy is panting a lot after vaccinations. Should I worry?

This type of side effect is not uncommon, pain at the site of the vaccination can be severe but it is usually not considered to be an emergency. if the pain seems to still be severe tomorrow, take her to your vet to get it checked, if your vet judges that the pain is indeed severe he will probably give her a pain killer for a couple days.

Puppy's getting sleepy after their shots is a normal reaction to vaccinations. They can also have a low grade fever and/or one bout of vomiting/diarrhea normally that are no cause for concern. The concern arises when your pet is severely lethargic, not eating, non-responsive, pale gums, or excessive vomiting/diarrhea. If you notice any of these symptoms then it is best to take puppy to a vet asap for immediate care, because a mores serious vaccine reaction is occurring at that point.

I would recommend taking Buddy to a veterinarian if we are still breathing heavy. They can get stressed and breath heavier from anxiety but my concern is that puppies this young can get sick and decline quickly. I would recommend bringing him in for an exam. Sometimes rapid breathing can be a sign of discomfort or illness. It is possible he may need a few rounds of deworming, or could have an infection and associated fever. Either way, around 8 weeks is when he should be getting his first round of vaccines and an exam, so I would simply talk to your veterinarian at that appointment.

No, it would be very unlikely for Daisy to have more puppies two days after giving birth, and if there were more puppies, they would probably be dead. What probably is causing the panting is her uterus contracting. When the puppies nurse, they stimulate her uterus to contract, leading her to pant. This is a normal postpartum behavior, and it should pass over time.

Hi there-Daisy may be very anxious, causing her heart rate to increase and panting to exert excess heat. If she is hot she will pant like this as well. If she seems painful or is having a hard time breathing well I would take her in to see your vet as soon as possible.
