These symptoms could be caused by a range of issues, including musculoskeletal pain, heart or lung disease, abdominal pain, heat stress or heat stroke, anxiety, impending seizures, etc. I would recommend that you keep a close eye on Bailey for the next 12-24 hours. If he develops additional symptoms, he should be checked out by a vet immediately. If he is just not back to normal within 24 hours, he should also see a vet.

That seems unusual for a young dog so I do recommend a veterinary exam to make sure there is no problem with his heart and lungs. They will listen to his heart and lungs and perhaps take an X-ray too. A blood panel to check for anemia is also indicated. He may have just been exhausted from the swim. In that case though, his symptoms would resolve rapidly with rest. Otherwise I worry there is something more serious going on with him. Poisonings are a common cause of a rapid onset of the sign you have described. Good luck!

Hello there. Sorry Eron is having this issue. This is not an emergency service so if you are really worried about him you should always take him to a veterinarian right away! That being said, dogs can pant for many reasons. 1. Cooling themselves off 2. Pain, injury 3. Underlying medical condition like heart disease, thyroid disease, cushing's disease, respiratory disease, etc 4. Stress 5. Excitement So, it may nothing or it may a sign of something serious. You know your dog best. If he seems like he can't get comfortable and he seems stressed then you should get him to a vet right away. If he seems otherwise comfortable and he is just lying there panting he is probably fine and you should continue to monitor him and if he keeps doing it then you should have him checked out by your vet. These can be symptoms of many serious medical issues, anxiety, fear, pain, neurologic disease, infection, etc. I would recommend that you have him checked out by a vet to see what could be going on. After a thorough physical exam and discussion of his recent history, the vet may recommend diagnostics, such as blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc. to diagnose the cause.

That sounds scary! Zeus needs to be examined by his veterinarian today if possible. It sounds like he may have had a seizure or a syncopal episode. Pets can have seizures for many reasons including liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, infections, inner ear problems, cancer or epilepsy. Syncopal episodes are generally related to the heart. He will need a physical exam and bloodwork to begin to narrow down and appropriately address the cause. Seizures are serious and are best addressed early.
