My dog is panting, drooling, and won't drink. Is this serious?

Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Excessive salivary production and licking of the lips sounds like some pretty significant nausea too me. Daisy would likely benefit from some anti-nausea medication. The best drugs for this include Cerenia and metoclopramide, both of which will require a prescription from your vet. Over the counter options which do not tend to work as effectively include things like pepsid and prilosec. I would encourage you to take Daisy in to be examined to see if there is an underlying problem that can be determined. Common causes of nausea in dogs include gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, vertigo / neurologic diseases, inner ear infections, GI foreign bodies, and several different infectious diseases. If you visit the vet, they may want to obtain some images / lab work to rule certain things in and out. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that Lucky is not feeling well. She appears to be painful in your pictures. She could be experiencing abdominal or even back pain. She will need to see a veterinarian for a thorough examination to determine if she is in fact painful and if so, where she hurts. This will guide treatment for her. Hi. Yes this does sound concerning. Drooling is a sign of nausea usually, or an oral irrirant or lesion in the mouth. If she has diarrhea too, I would say its most likely nausea. This can be caused by gi disease, something they ate, infection, something stuck in intestines, or many other causes. She should be seen with these signs.

Vomiting, drooling and inappetence can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Peanut evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

Poor Flea! Given the suddenness of her symptoms, I would be concerned that she may have ingested something toxic. The duck pond could have contained an algae that is toxic to dogs, and she ingested it when drinking from the pond. Without seeing her in person, I can't say this for certain, but it is concerned she is panting and unable to stay still. I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now so that the cause of her symptoms are diagnosed and treated.

Based on the description of the situation, it sounds like something scared the bejesus out of her. Coupled with the current clinical signs, I suspect that MJ could have been stung or bitten by an insect or animal. I would definitely have her seen by a vet in the morning at the very latest, but on an emergency basis should the vomiting seem to continue or worsen. It looks like you are from the southwest, where there are lots of nasty things out there that can bite and sting. Keep a very close eye on MJ in the meantime. Hope this helps.
