My dog is panting, drooling, and won't drink. Is this serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shar Pei | Female | spayed | 11 months old | 40 lbs

She's panting A lot and keeps jumping up on the window sill and down. I offered her some water but she doesn't want to drink. She's drooling a bit. Is here something wrong with her?

Hazel sounds like she is either nauseous, uneasy, or has been exposed to some sort of toxin. You can try to treat nausea with a drug like pepsid or famotidine to see if that helps, but her failure to calm down makes me think that something else could be at work. If she has no history of being uneasy especially, I would consider a toxin as a distinct possibility. Try to think if it's possible that she could have gotten into something inappropriate. If so, I would have her checked out by the vet for possible decontamination and supportive care.
