My dog has pancreatitis and is vomiting. Should I see a vet?

Poor Robin! I can see that her stool has some frank good in it. This can be caused by inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, chronic foreign bodies, as well as pancreatitis. Intestinal parasites and viruses such as parvovirus can cause this as well. A change in diet may help, but I recommend discussing ruling out the conditions above with your veterinarian. It could be Jax has gastritis. Pancreatitis makes dogs very sick, so I would expect more episodes of vomiting than you have seen. Having him seen by his vet is a good idea. I'd take him into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! Pancreatitis can cause vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and belly pain. It is a cause of vomiting and diarrhea but it isn't the only cause. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, toxin ingestion, IBD, food allergy/intolerance or reaction to eating something outside or a new treat/food/people food. Since he has been low grade vomiting now for 2 days it is best to have him seen soon if it continues. It is encouraging that he is eating. I would be sure you fasted him for 12-24 hours then resume feeding with a very bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Make the meals very small. Only offer small amounts of water. If he is lethargic, won't eat and the vomiting continues even on a low grade scale he should be seen before the weekend. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Pancreatitis can present in many ways, the majority of which are nauseous and painful but not particularly weak and debilitated and respond favourably to symptomatic treatment and an ultra low fat diet. Severe pancreatitis is very rare and typically prevents with severe dehydration and collapse and can become life threatening, requiring hospital treatment

I would recommend taking him to the veterinarian now. My concern is that Pepper has been vomiting for what sounds like awhile and is now lethargic and yelping. This may be pancreatitis, this can be a foreign body or it may just be a simple gastrointestinal upset. If it is something more serious it should be treated sooner than later. Yes she should. Low fat diet ideally should be provided as a regular diet. I would strongly suggest to have her checked by your veterinarian as well as chronic administration of steroids could be potentially the cause of persistent vomiting. I am sorry to hear about Pixi. These are concerning symptoms, and I would recommend having her examined by her veterinarian. Drooling can be a sign of nausea. Shaking can be from pain/discomfort. If she hasn't been eating regular meals I would recommend rubbing honey or karo syrup on her gums and getting her to the vet right away if she is a very small dog (your post doesn't mention her weight, but in tiny breeds we can get hypoglycemia where the blood sugar drops and this can cause shaking and drooling https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952329 ).
