My dog has a small, round, oozing bump on its skin. Is it serious?

This appears to be a possible pustule (infected small pocket underneath the skin). If just one of these is present and it isn't causing any discomfort, then I would suggest monitoring the area to see if it resolves on its own. You can gently clean the area with a mild soap (ie Dove) and warm water and placing a very thin layer of Neosporin to the bump to see if it goes away. However if it starts to spread or does not resolve within a week or two then a vet visit is needed to get Louie on a short course of antibiotics to get this to heal well. Without a picture or examining Laila it's difficult to say what is going on for sure. Dogs can get small tumors on their eyelids called meibomian gland tumors and normally these are benign. However, I'm a little concerned that it has gotten larger overnight. It could also be an area of infection or a more serious tumor type. If you can post a picture of Laila it may be helpful to give you further advice. If not, it would be best to err on the side of caution and have Laila examined by your veterinarian. The photo, unfortunately, is not clear but based on your description a sebaceous cyst is very possible. I cannot tell you if you should be concerned or not as I really can't see it and I can't feel it. It is best to have your vet check it out. It is not an emergency but just get him checked in the next few days.

This may be a pimple (little abscess), cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian as tumors should be removed ASAP. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. Your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning. Since this is obviously bothering your dog (it looks like Bentley is licking it), I would have this examined very soon.

I would have this lump on Laila checked out by a vet first. While it could be a cyst, there is always a chance it could be something more serious like a malignant tumor (although the chances are low in a young dog). It's also important to have any lump checked out by a vet to make sure it isn't something concerning. Should it be a cyst, an antibiotic ointment will not do anything for it, and I would only recommend warm compresses and cleaning it if the cyst was opened and draining. Do not try to pop it! Typically you can leave these cysts alone as long as it isn't bothering your dog and isn't getting bigger. First step is to have it definitively diagnosed by a vet, so I would give her vet a call for an appointment. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Based on the photo that you've attached and the lack of symptoms I suspect that this is a benign skin lesion such as a blood blister, cyst, or mild infection of one of her sweat glands/hair follicles. Since Oona is not bothered by this lesion and it has not changed I would recommend continuing to monitor her. If at any point she starts to rub/scratch at the area or you notice it growing in size I would recommend having her seen by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!

It is concerning that is has been present for a week, as a bug bite would have likely resolved by now. I recommend having Layla seen by a vet as soon as possible, especially because the area is red and near the mammary chain.
