My pug licks excessively. Is 10mg Omeprazole safe for reflux?

I can understand you wanting to check on this. This medication is dosed out at 0.5-1mg/kg rounded to the nearest 10mg. So this dose is appropriate for your pet and isn't too much. While I think it is more common to prescribe omeprazole for once daily use there are reports of using it twice daily. If Lily has been on omeprazole once daily in the past it would be a good idea to check in with your vet to be sure that's the dose they intended.

Poor Gizmo! I do not recommend to make any changes without speaking with your regular veterinarian but I think trying something different is a good idea since Gizmo is still having problems. You may try the Omeprazole if your vet thinks it may help. Best of luck.

She would need one of the 200mg chews once a day so the 120 count package will last you almost 3 months. She would need 2 of the Zesty Paws and that will only last you 45 days. Regardless of which product you choose, she is safe to take either one concurrently with the Reconcile. Good question!

YEs, fewer signs fo nausea/discomfort and less burping wpuld be an indication that the treatment is working. Ensuring he eats slowly by using a slow feeder or scattering his food over a wide tray or plate so he has to work harder for it can also be helpful in improving overall digestion.

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sky may need some diagnostic testing to find out what the problem is. He may have an esophageal foreign body, ulcers of stomach or esophagus or just acid reflex. I would discuss with Sky's vet if radiographs might help determine what is wrong. If the pepcid seemed to help, it may be that he needs to be on an acid reducer long term. There are other medications that may used longer term than the pepcid. I hope Sky is back to normal soon.
