My dog's old leg dislocation still hurts. What can I give her?

Its possible that the leg may still be bothering Michael a little or it may be unrelated. I would recommend strict rest for the next 3 days (no walks, running or jumping), if he is still lame go ahead an take him to the vet. If he is getting worse at any point, go ahead and take him to the vet. You may opt to go ahead and have him seen to get pain medications as well since this is the fastest way to relive any pain. Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry to hear Syo appears to be in some discomfort from his hip issue. If the Rimadyl does not appear to be doing the trick, there are other medications you can obtain from your veterinarian that may help in better pain relief. As far as at home ways to help reduce pain, I would recommend a heating blanket or heating pad to the effected area for 15-20 mins a few times daily. Be sure the heating pad is between a blanket when placed over the area to prevent burning. I hope this helps and I would recommend seeing Syo's veterinarian soon when they open so you can discuss other paid medications that may work better for Syo. Yes there is pain relief options your vet can prescribe for her and diet is very effective, hills j/d mobility care can massively help. If this is not available there are many supplements which may help containing glucosamine, omega fatty acids and msm

Poor Calie! Even though the broken bone healed naturally, it doesn't mean it healed correctly, and she could have developed arthritis in that leg which is worse in the cold weather. I would take her into the vet to have x-rays done on the leg in the next couple of days. That will show how the leg healed and will show if there is arthritis in that area. She will likely benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.

Unfortunately, if Milo is non -weight bearing on a hind limb, there is a chance that he has a full or partial tear of a cruciate ligament. Bringing Milo to your vet or veterinary ER ASAP is recommended to have a full orthopedic examination performed (possibly sedated) to determine if there is a cruciate tear and may require surgery. Activity restriction, pain medication such as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and a natural anti-inflammatory such as VetriScience Mobility Flex or Dasuquin would likely be recommended by your vet even if he/she determines it to be a soft tissue injury such as a sprain. A surgery at 12 can be hard on the body, especially if Charlie has any underlying health issues, but consulting with the surgeon and running some tests such as bloodwork can help you determine if it is still a viable option for him or not. An exam in person with additional testing is best to try and figure out if this is possible. At home, limiting activity to kennel-rest and leashed-only walks may help rest the muscle and joints some to provide some pain relief and limit further injury to the joint, however a complete workup from a vet in person is a good idea to further assess the situation and see if more can be done.

If Angel's leg was dislocated, she wouldn't be able to put an weight on it at all and she would have an decreased range of motion. It could be that Angel may have torn her cranial cruciate ligament, torn the meniscus in her knee, or strained a ligament or muscle. I would recommend resting Angel for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it.
