Why is my dog not eating, lethargic, and has skin bumps/scabs?

HI, thanks for using PetCoach! There are 2 possible causes: 1) hives from an allergic reaction or the start of a skin infection. If they are hives then they should respond to benadryl, read link below. If they do not get better or the number increases then Nugget should be seen by your Vet for an exam. This sounds like he may have gotten into an ant nest or have a secondary skin infection from an allergic reaction. I recommend a veterinary exam and probably antibiotics to heal this skin infection. In the mean time you can bathe Browny in a medicated shampoo and apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on the sores he can't reach to lick. Your veterinarian can also give medication to reduce the itch and inflammation. This sounds painful also so please take him in soon for treatment. From your description, it sounds as though Muffin has a bacterial skin infection and the bumps you are seeing are pustules. If he is lethargic and having diarrhea in addition to the pustules on the skin, I would recommend taking him in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The Benadryl should help if she’s itchy but she needs to see a vet to determine if it’s an infection and get her some oral antibiotics if needed. Good luck and kisses to Baby!

These bumps could be from an allergic reaction, mites, fleas, or a skin infection. Because Benadryl hasn't helped and Kylo has had these bumps for a week, it's time to see the vet. The vet can diagnose the cause of the bumps, and can prescribe the correct treatment for them. I would take him into the vet in the morning. I hope this helps!

Hi. This appears to be a skin infection. THese can be caused by bacteria, yeast, fleas, ticks, mites, food sensitivities, allergies, and more. I would recommned and exam and some skin testig with some antibiotics from your veterinarian. Good luck

Benji may have a mild skin infection. I recommend bathing him weekly with a medicated shampoo. Usually this will resolve in a few weeks without any other treatment. If they get worse then I would bring him in for an exam. They may prescribe antibiotics or do a skin scraping to get a diagnosis. Skin infections are more common during the hot summer months.
