My dog has skin bumps for a week, Benadryl didn't help. What to do?

If you think you have removed the source of the possible allergic reaction and he is otherwise doing well except for the hives, it is ok to give him about 12 hours before taking him to your veterinarian. If he has not improved by tomorrow, have him evaluated by your veterinarian as he would be given something stronger for allergies and your veterinarian would help you ensure we have effectively removed the source of the allergy.   Poor thing. That looks very uncomfortable. This does look consistent with an allergic reaction to something, although it could anything she's reacting to. Skin issues like this can also be caused less commonly by a primary problem with the skin or even some types of cancer. I would recommend going back for another visit as soon as possible to try to get to the bottom of this. A simple reaction wouldn't stick around so long. Next steps may include general blood work, sampling the bumps (either with a needle or a minor surgery), or even a trial of different medication. If you're vet isn't sure what to do next, I'd strongly recommend asking for a referral to a dermatologist.

  Poor girl. If the Benadryl didn't work, unfortunately you will have to take Gracie to your vet at this point to deal with the skin outbreak. She will likely need stronger medication in the form of a steroid or an immunomodulator drug (Apoquel works very well for acute skin allergies in dogs).
  If Gracie isn't pawing at the bumps or opening up sores on her body then it could take a few more days for the bumps to completely resolve (again I am unsure how long you have been treating with the Benadryl). It is at least comforting knowing that the symptoms did go down somewhat, so you do have the option of waiting a few more days with the Bendaryl routine before seeking additional medications through your vet.
  Toipcal hypoalergenic shampoo's can also be used to help soothe the skin. My top pick is Duoxo calming shampoo.
