My dog is not eating, drinking lots, having accidents. Is he sick?

Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear I"m sorry to hear Lucky is not feeling well. It sounds like he has a bad upper respiratory infection that may be bacterial, viral, or maybe fungal. He may need a bacterial culture and a chest x-ray to determine what the type of upper respiratory infection he has and that will help determine what best medication to place Lucky on. This is important to do especially if his symptoms are not getting any better. The drinking a lot of water is also concerning. I would recommend blood work on Lucky to check for endocrine disorders and diabetes that could be causing the increased water intake. Poor guy and sorry to hear about your mom passing. The weight loss was good for him and his health: however, his symptoms of increased drinking, urination and loose stool with accidents in the home are suggestive of possible diabetes or a urinary tract infection. His behavioral changes indicate he doesn’t feel well. I would highly recommend taking him to your vet for bloodwork and a urinalysis to check things over. I'm sorry to hear that Lucky is not feeling well. She appears to be painful in your pictures. She could be experiencing abdominal or even back pain. She will need to see a veterinarian for a thorough examination to determine if she is in fact painful and if so, where she hurts. This will guide treatment for her. Poor Kobe! From your description, I would be very concerned that he has a medical problem causing him to drink and urinate more than normal. In an 11-year-old dog, the most common causes of this problem along with the weight loss you have noticed would be diabetes or Cushing's disease, but liver or kidney problems would also be possible. There is nothing you can do to fix the problem until you get a definite diagnosis, so I would recommend taking Kobe to the vet as soon as you are able to. He/she can do some blood work and a urinalysis to help diagnose the problem, and will get him started on appropriate medication to treat it depending on what is found. In the meantime, please make sure that Kobe has free access to water at all times, even if he is having accidents in the house. Dogs with these problems can very easily become dehydrated without access to water, as you have noticed, so it isn't safe to restrict their water intake.

I recommend a vet visit for Elsa. Excessive salivation may be a sign of nausea and if she has recently drinking a lot more she may have some disease process occurring. Diabetes can cause excessive thirst and urination as can kidney problems. Elsa should be evaluated and may need some bloodwork done at the vet. Hope she's better soon.

Poor Luckie, she sounds sick. If she is nauseous, that could cause her to lick her lips and drink lots of water. Being lethargic and not moving around can mean she has a fever or is in pain. Luckie may have an issue inside the GI tract (intestines) causing nausea or trouble with how her organs, particularly kidneys and liver are functioning as the cause for these symptoms. I recommend having Luckie examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. They may recommend x-rays to look at the GI tract and/or blood work to evaluate her kidneys and liver. Good luck!
