My dog's nose is bleeding with watery wounds. Is it serious?

Your dog may have rubbed it raw, under the couch or through the fence maybe? I suggest washing the area gently with antibacterial soap and water. Apply a warm washcloth 2-3 times a day for five minutes at a time to help keep it clean and draining. After washing and the compress, dry thoroughly and apply a dab of antibiotic ointment that **does NOT** contain hydrocortisone to the wound. Steroids will slow healing. An OTC triple antibiotic ointment will suffice. Rub it in well and don't leave any excess for your pet to lick off. If it does not show signs of healing or if your dog develops a fever, loses his appetite, starts vomiting or has diarrhea have him seen by your veterinarian right away. Potential cause may include allergies, infection, automimmune disease or even cancer. An e-collar (cone) may be used to prevent rubbing or pawing.

This looks like lupus (DLE) which is an autoimmune disorder. You can minimize the affects by keeping him out of direct sunlight. You need to work with your vet on how to manage this as medications are needed to suppress the immune system to stop the inflammation. He will also need some antibiotics until this is under control. It looks like her nose is very dry and cracked. To be safe, I would get her in to see a vet as soon as possible, especially if she's feeling sick otherwise, any unusual lethargy, refusal to eat and drink, vomiting, diarrhea could all point to this being a much more serious condition. I do recommend very gently cleaning her nose and applying a thin protective coating of Vaseline to her nose to help slow the cracking and dryness.

While this may be caused by a bite from another dog, from my experience, this looks a little bit more like a wound from nudging something constantly with the nose. Perhaps nudging a door to a crate, or sticking his nose under a door repeatedly. I recommend keeping a close eye on the area, and maybe even getting Bear an E-collar or "cone" so that he does not cause further trauma to the area. I advise against applying antibiotic ointments such as Neosporin as Bear is likely to lick them off quickly. I hope this helps and that all is well with Bear!

Poor Max. This type of sore is common from rubbing his nose on a cage door, carpet, dog beds, etc. I would put some neosporin on it twice a day and rub it in. If it isn’t improving, I would have your vet look at it. Your vet will be able to see if he need some oral antibiotics or other meds to help it heal. I hope this helps!

There are many reasons for scabs on the nose. It can be related to an injury or autoimmune condition. It can also be related to a disease process within the nose. A physical exam is the only way to know what the cause is. Sometimes these pups even need a biopsy. I recommend to have Lucek seen by his veterinarian. Aww poor Grizzlu that must be very painful! That looks like very severe dermatitis. Some causes of this are bacterial and fungal infections, autoimmune disease, severe allergies, mites and even cancer. Please take Grizzlu to see a veterinarian as soon as you can. Whatever caused this it looks like it is now infected and she likely need antibiotics, topical treatment and possible other oral medications like corticosteroids.
