My dog had normal poop, then liquid stool on walk. Should I worry?

If Kado's other bowel movements are normal I wouldn't be too concerned but if he is having looser stools all the time I would recommend bringing him in to the vet for an exam. It is not unusual for dogs to have a bowel movement and maybe even have it be a little loose on a run due to increased GI motility due to the exercise. It is not uncommon for dogs to try to go more frequently during long walks and is likely related to a territory marking instinct. As long as this does not persist to cover every bowel movement or any increasing frequency at home I wold continue to monitor for any additional signs or weight loss. Consider adding a probiotic/fiber supplement such as fortiflora as a natural gut conditioner if stool quality is generally soft

Hello. Probably not. Exercise can & will facilitate bowel movements, & the faster stool moves through the bowels, the less water is absorbed making the stools a little softer. This may be just normal for your pup. If anything changes, of course discuss this with your veterinarian, but if everything else is OK, I would not be too worried. Hi, I would not worry if Pogi is well in himself apart from this runny poo. As you say, sometimes it can vary quite a bit according to what they have eaten or for other factors, perhaps feeling a bit under the weather etc. Keep an eye on his next poo. If he does more of these feaces, I would recommend to have him checked over and at least have a feacal test done. Try to feed him his usual diet and keep an eye on his appetite. If his next toilet looks the same you could try to offer him a bland, easy to digest diet such as chicken and rice, fish and rice or Hill’s I/D. Hope he does not give you any more worries !

Hello, sorry to hear about Sammie. It sounds like the loose stools are making his peri-anal area soiled. He may have loose stools because of the stress associated with going to the groomers. Additionally, if his anal glands were expressed he may be a little sensitive in the area and may be straining to defecate. Continue to clean and dry the area as needed when he becomes soiled. If the problem continues after 2-3 days, then Sammie should be seen by a veterinarian. If Sammie develops swelling, pain, or thick green discharge from his anal region, then he should be evaluated sooner. Hope this helps and best of luck.

This doesn't really sound like an issue to me - dogs can sometimes change their behavior patterns when it comes to the frequency of defecation and it doesn't usually mean there's a problem as long as the stool appears normal. It is also quite common for the first stool to be normal and subsequent stools softer, particularly if the dog is exercising. As long as Oakley has a good appetite, is not losing weight, and does not have blood or mucous in his stool you probably don't need to be concerned.

Yes, the slightly less firm stool can still be normal, and often stools will get progressively less firm when dogs defecate multiple times in succession on a walk or playing out in the yard. If it is getting notably looser to the point of diarrhea, then Max should be seen by a vet. But your description sounds completely normal! Hope this helps!
