My new dog has no shots. How do I get tags and papers for her?

My chihihuah have not have none of her shot and how can I get tags on her and paper on her . Someone gave her to me for frer

Getting tags for her will depend on where you live. In most municipalities a rabies vaccination is required. If you have no proof of a rabies vaccine, you will need to have a vaccination done by a veterinarian. You will need to check with your locality to find out if any other vaccinations are required for licensing. I would recommend calling the office of the city where you live to find out their requirements. You will not be able to register your dog with the AKC if that is what you mean by having "papers" for her, without proof of her parentage and their AKC registration.

Ask the previous owner for the name of the veterinary practice where your dog was vaccinated. The practice should have the details and then can tell you which vaccines are due when. If he cannot tell you, then you should assume the dog never got any vaccinations. It would then be best to take him to a vet and start a course of core vaccines (basic immunizations(distemper/parvo, etc., at least 2 courses three weeks apart) as well as a rabies vaccination and a basic health check to make sure Coby is healthy.

Yes, you need to take Dandy to a vet and let them know that you just got him but did not receive any vaccine records. . They will get him started on his vaccines and likely give him a deworming. They will talk to you about what else he may need like heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, etc depending on what is prevalent in your area. Just got 7-week-old puppies, no shots. What should I do first?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would get puppies in by 8 weeks for thei first DHPP vaccines. Bring a stool sample. They will start them on heart worm and flea and tick medication. Your local township should have forms for licensing. Most people wait until their dogs receive their rabies vaccine and are spayed or neutered. Otherwise I’m not sure what you mean by registered. Good luck!

My dog is almost one. Is it too late for his vaccinations and papers?

It's definitely not too late for FatDaddy to get his shots - you can do this at any age if they haven't been done already :) I'm not sure what kind of papers you're referring to here. You can certainly get a vaccination certificate for him from your vet, once the shots are given. If you mean AKC registration papers (or "papers" through some other kennel club), this will depend on whether his parents were registered or not. My 8-month bulldog has no papers. Can he get new shots and records?

Hello, if you are unsure about his vaccinations, you can re-start his vaccinations. However, if you know for a fact he did receive vaccines, you may be able to booster him at 1 year of age for his core vaccines (distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis). You can have your friend contact the vet they took Bella to for her vaccines, and get copies that way. If they won't do that, it would be safe to assume they didn't get her vaccines. In this case, you will have to take her into a vet to start her vaccines schedule. I hope this helps!
