Just got 7-week-old puppies, no shots. What should I do first?

I would recommend taking your pup to the vet for a wellness exam and first set of vaccines - he/she can get you started on everything she needs. :) As far as getting her registered, I'm not sure what you mean? Your local city or county may require that you get a dog license for her, so you can check with your town hall or county courthouse to find out. If you're asking about kennel club registration, your breeder should have given you registration papers to fill out and send in.

We start vaccinations around 7-8 weeks. I would take the puppy to your Vet once you get her and be sure you have an agreement with the breeder if they find anything wrong with her. She will her first DHPP and be dewormed. Bring a stool sample. Everything will be fine! Congratulations!

Congratulations on your new pup :) If she hasn't had anything done yet, she will need a vet visit for her first DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza) as well as a general wellness check-up. She should also have a fecal exam for parasites, and should be dewormed if any are found. She's also old enough to start on heartworm prevention if this is a problem in your area - the vet should be able to advise you if this is needed. After that, she will need to have her DAPP vaccine boostered every 3-4 weeks until she's 16 weeks or older. She will also need a rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. Other vaccinations, such as Lyme disease, leptospirosis, or Bordetella (kennel cough) may also be recommended depending on what is common in your area and her risk of exposure. Your veterinarian should discuss this with you at her check-up visit, and will let you know if any of these vaccines are needed.

If you do not have any records the Vet will determine how many DHPP vaccines she will need to protect her. It is in her best interest to receive the vaccines even if she had they before. The Rabies vaccine can be given in most state between 12-16 weeks of age. Your Vet will likely deworm her and get her on a good flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Yes, you need to take Dandy to a vet and let them know that you just got him but did not receive any vaccine records. . They will get him started on his vaccines and likely give him a deworming. They will talk to you about what else he may need like heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, etc depending on what is prevalent in your area. Hi there. At 10 weeks old, the pup is overdue for her first set of vaccines, so I would take her to a vet immediately as soon as you get her for a health check and to get her vaccinations started. She may also need to be dewormed, if this hasn't been done recently.

It is best to be safe than sorry and it will not hurt him. He should get a Rabies vaccine and two DHPP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. Both will be good for 1 year. Bring a stool sample and the Vet will also heartworm test him so you can start prevention. You can also discuss setting up his neuter if you plan on fixing him.
