Why is my dog having nighttime pee accidents? UTI or behavior?

If this is a recent behavior change for Luna, I would be suspicious of an underlying medical problem causing her to have accidents. Some common possible problems that can cause dogs to urinate in inappropriate places would include a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, Cushing's disease, or even a bladder tumor. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a urinalysis as well as blood work or x-rays if needed to help determine the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately the concerns is that there may be a urinary tract infection which needs to be treated with antibiotics. I recommend to get her into see the veterinarian and have her urine checked for infection or crystals as these can commonly show up like this. Sometimes very concentrated urine can smell stronger and in that instance, you want to increase the drinking. This can be achieved by adding water to the food but it sounds like she is already drinking a lot. Play it safe and have her urine checked to be sure. The most common reasons for straining to urine, urinary accidents and bloody urine are: urinary tract infections (UTI), crystals in the urine, bladder stones and if she is an older dog a bladder or urethral tumor. I recommend collecting a urine sample and bringing her to the Vet before the weekend as she is very uncomfortable. The urine sample can determine if she has an infection or crystals and an X-ray is needed to check for bladder stones. I wish Chi Chi a speedy recovery!

Even though it’s only happening at night, Fiddle still might have a urinary tract infection or a problem causing increased thirst that leads to increased urination (infections, kidney disease and diabetes would be a few of these diseases). I would recommend seeing your vet - they would probably recommend checking a urine sample to start.

It could be behavioral but recurrent urinary tract infections can also be common in dogs with Cushing's disease. Another possibility might be that there is something else causing infections like bladder stones or too much skin around her vulva. I think it would be best to recheck with your vet again to see if Skye has another infection before you assume that this is a behavioral problem.

Does Sophie spend every night in your bedroom / on your bed? If not, and Sundays are the only night she does, she may be doing this as part of a behavioral problem because she knows you are leaving the following day. I would also consider a urinary tract infection as a possibility. However, this would be less likely as it does not sound like the accidents are consistent. I would discourage this behavior by crate training her or keeping her in a separate area and not on your bed or in your bedroom. This may encourage independence and might correct the behavior. If this continues despite crate training or keeping her in a separate room, I would contact your veterinarian and set up an appointment to have her urine tested and an examination performed. How frustrating for you! It may be that Nox needs to be let out in the middle of the night to pee, and I would start getting up once in the night to let him out to see if that keeps him from urinating in his crate. If that doesn't help, it could be that he is suffering from separation anxiety and does not like being left alone at night. You can try keeping the crate in your room, or using DAP. This is a pheromone diffuser that helps dogs with anxiety, and you plug it in the room where he is kept. That may help calm him at night and keep him from urinating in his crate.
