My dog is suddenly nervous, hiding, and not eating. What's wrong?

Gizmo is experiencing very general symptoms of disease, these symptoms could fit almost any internal condition, maybe he is suffering from nausea due to a gastrointestinal disease and maybe he is in pain, from the symptoms described it's very hard to know. i would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked, if he doesn't show any other obvious symptoms during the examination, a blood test and possibly an ultrasound will be needed in order to try and find out what is wrong with Gizmo.

Poor guy. Since his symptoms are pretty vague and could mean just about anything. I would certainly have him examined by your vet soon. If his gums are pale, then this is an emergency and he should be seen by an ER vet right away. IT sounds like he could have ingested something that is affecting his whole body or he could have an internal organ system problem. I do hope that your pet Spot is going to be ok moving forward. I am no sure how long this has been going on for; however these are severe and warrant a vet visit. I would highly recommend taking Gizmo to the vet right away. They need to run some tests to determine what the underlying problem is since just about every condition can cause these symptoms. You can try offering him a small amount of honey (1 tsp) or some canned tuna for now to see if that can give him a little energy; however, he needs to see a vet for further care. Poor Caesar. There definitely sounds like something has changed. There are so many things that can cause him to be acting this way. He could be hurting somewhere, ill with an infection, or stress from an environmental change. You could try an adaptil calming collar but if it isn’t improving then I would have your vet look at him. Your vet can do some bloodwork to rule out any infections or liver/kidney issues and also try to locate any possible painful areas. Your vet can also start him on a medicine for anxiety if needed. There are a wide variety of health problems that can cause shaking/crying and decreased appetite. Pain or discomfort from a number of health problems could cause the shaking and crying. Decreased appetite may be due to pain or can be due to nausea from any number of health issues such as orthopedic conditions, organ dysfunction, infections, autoimmune diseases, toxins, or certain types of cancers. Due to the variety of possibilities in this case, I would highly recommend Fido be seen by his veterinarian right away for an evaluation. It's hard to know if Gunner is having emotional issues or is experiencing a medical problem. I recommend a complete examination and some basic diagnostics like blood work and radiographs. Shaking can be a sign of anxiety, but it can also be a sign of pain. Back/neck and abdominal pain in particular can be difficult to localize and sometimes reluctance to move and shaking are the only signs. Shaking can also be a sign of a fever. If you think Peanut might be painful or if he continues to show no interest in his regular food I'd recommend seeing your vet for an exam. They can look for a source of pain and evaluate his temperature.
