My dog's neck cyst is oozing. Can I give him human amoxicillin?

Yes, you can give the Amoxicillin but it may or may not help depending on what is causing the abscess. 500mg is on the high side of the dosing for a dog that size but I would give it. He needs 500mg every 12 hours and you need to do it for at least 7 days. If you don't give it correctly he may develop resistance to Amoxicillin and then it won't work next time you need it. Give it with food to minimize GI upset. If you do this treatment, the abscess clears but then comes back he will need to see a vet.

Cysts are not pockets of infections, and antibiotics are not used to treat them. It could be that the cyst somehow opened up and drained, and infection entered the area leading it to be red and hot to the touch, but without seeing it in person, I can't say this for certain. I would have Jacks seen by a vet for this cyst. The vet can drain it sterilely, may removed it surgically if there is a concern it could reoccur, and can give any other treatment needed. A dose for a 34kg dog would be 425mg - so approximately 500mg, twice daily for 10 days. At this dose his kidney/liver should not be affected.
