My puppy has muscle soreness. Can I safely increase Loxicom dosage?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 19 days old | 22 lbs

Hi, My dog is 7 months old and is suffering from muscle soreness and stiffness. He has been like this for about 4 days now. On Monday the vet gave us Loxicom a 10 ml bottle for 5days and to give him one dose a day. But we really feel like the dose just isn’t enough. Could we possibly up the doseage? Many thanks, Nicola.

No, please do not increase the dose without consulting with your veterinarian first. All NSAIDs carry a risk to cause kidney damage or liver damage.
Ask your vet whether he recommends a muscle relaxant in addition to the Loxicam. This may be safer than increasing the Loxicam dosage.
