My dog's mouth is red and raw. What cream can I use to soothe it?

Any topical product you apply will promptly be licked off. This could be localized infection or inflammation. An allergic reaction or mass cannot be ruled out by image alone. Legally, we are prohibited from telling to medicate the spot in the absence of a physical exam. Ideally, Lana should be physically examined by your veterinarian for a firm diagnosis. She may need systemic treatment as opposed to topical. In the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent pawing or rubbing. Keep the area as clean and dry as possible. Wipe her mouth after she drinks or eats.

It does look a little irritated there. That could be caused by irritation from a muzzle or face halter, or could be regular allergies starting up. I would recommend keeping the area clean and dry, for now. If it's not getting better after 3-5 days, I'd recommend a vet visit to see if she needs most medicated wipes. It's common for young dogs to get superficial bacterial infections around their lips, which usually doesn't require oral antibiotics, but may require a topical treatment. I hope that helps! From the photo, Puddin’s mouth does look red and I am suspicious of an infection or an allergic reaction. I recommend to protect the area from any trauma by having her wear an Elizabethan collar at all times. I also recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian to get this cleared up. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend having a vet take a look at his mouth as he may have oral pain due to severe dental disease. If he has caused mouth sores from rubbing his mouth on the carpet, you can use zymox topical ointment or malacetic conditioning spray to help relieve any discomfort from the sores and prevent secondary infection. Sometimes just wiping with a warm wet cloth and drying thoroughly once per day can help with a moist dermatitis. Poor guy! Your can try this: It won’t hurt him if he licks it off. However, if it’s not improving in 5 days or so, I would recommend that you schedule a recheck with your vet. I’m worried he may need antibiotics, as he may have a deep skin infection. If it continues to be a problem , a skin biopsy may be recommended. Thanks for asking PetCoach!

There is no cream recommend to be put in a spot near his lip since he will just lick it off. If there are sores on his body you can alternate antibiotic cream such as neosporin with cortisone cream. You can also give him a good bath to help the skin. I would have the spot on the jaw line checked to make sure there is no growth that may be cancer or no immune mediated skin problem as these may need a biopsy or or oral medication to clear
