My dog's mouth is bleeding and a tooth is broken. What do I do?

It could be a loose tooth. Do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. See if she will let you look at her mouth gently so you can try to stop the bleeding if possible. If not, don't push it. Do not give her any food tonight or in the morning, and get her into a vet asap. She can have water.

I recommend making an appointment with your vet when they open to take a look at it. Though she isn’t acting painful, it may become painful or infected. There isn’t anything you can do at home and no safe medications you can give for pain. If it is broken, she will likely need to undergo anesthesia to have the tooth removed. Ouch, poor Bently! You will need to take him into the vet to have his mouth examined. If the tooth broke off, there may still be a portion of the root in his gums, and it will need to be removed under sedation. I would feed him soft food tonight, as it may be painful for him to chew with a broken tooth, but don't feed him past 8pm, as he will need an empty stomach if he's to be sedated in the morning. I would take him into the vet first thing tomorrow morning.

If Oden's broken teeth haven't been removed, then that could be the cause of the redness, swelling, and bleeding. The antibiotics will cure any infection present, but it will not heal the broken teeth. When a tooth is badly broken, it may need to be removed. I'd recommend scheduling a dental with your vet to see if these teeth need to be removed.

You can stuff a little bit of gauze into the hole to stop the bleeding, if Abby lets you. The tooth may have come out due to a tooth root abscess, or it may havee broken off or damaged the bone in which the tooth was sitting. I suggest you make an appointment with your vet to have her teeth and gums checked. If the bleeding does not stop shortly after putting the gauze into the cavity, or if Abby does not let you near the mouth, you should take her to the vet today to stop the bleeding.
