Why is my dog mounting my husband after he was bitten by another dog?

It is likely your dog is doing this behavior to your brother's dog because they are around each other long enough for your dog to have the opportunity and maybe he feels comfortable with your brother's dog if they are around eachother frequently and is not fearful of your brother's dog's reaction or he really enjoys seeing your brother's dog which makes him extra excited. You can try to distract him with a game or toy before the behavior occurs to discourage it if this bothers you. Having him neutered may also decrease this behavior. Hello. He is just being a male dog. Even after neutering, some males may still try to mount females, but in his case, he is still strongly attracted to your spayed female. If you do not plan on neutering the male, keep an eye on the male as the female can get annoyed at him & you may have a fight on your hands. If your male is still quite young, he may mature out of this behavior as his instincts are very strong right now. Just keep an eye on him. It is purely for dominance in the encounter or relationship. I would recommend to get her spayed as soon as you are able to so you can avoid accidental breeding for her.

This is a dominance behavior, more than a sexual behavior. Neutering does not make these types of behaviors go away - even some female dogs will mount other dogs! Rico is likely just playing and trying to assert his dominance and be "alpha" to the other dogs. As long as he acts playful to the other dogs and is not being aggressive/biting/fighting, this mounting is just fine! I hope this is helpful - best of luck with Rico!

Sometimes that type of mourning behavior is more dominance behavior than sexual behavior. In the future a safer way would be to try to entice with food, or distract with a loud noise.
