What to do if my dog missed his Zonisamide dose? Re-dose or skip?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. 30mg of phenobarbitone twice a day is not a very high dose for Gum Gum's weight therefore you can give her another tablet now. It will not cause any problems even if it was a double dose for this evening. You should continue with other medications as normal.

Hello. You can definitely skip the 7 PM dose today & restart the schedule tomorrow morning, or if you think it will simplify things, just give the pill in the evenings from here on out. Hello. Phenobarbital can be absorbed very quickly, so it possible that some has already entered the bloodstream. If Luna's seizures have been well controlled up to this point, then missing one dose will not be harmful. Just redose at her next normal scheduled time. If you missed one dose on the second day, or any doses in the future, never increase the next dose beyond what your vet has indicated on the label. Instead just continue with the next a.m. dosage and so on.

If you do not remember whether you gave your dog his pill this morning, I suggest you just skip that and give Bobby his next pill this evening. You may want to get a weekly pill box into which you put a weeks worth of pills divided up for every day, so you can see which you gave and which not. It helps me remember, too.
