What happens if my dog accidentally takes a double dose of zonisamide?

Hello, Keppra has a wide safety margin and very high dosages have been reported to cause increase salivation. The zonisamide is 2 times the high end of normal, but not near the dose where it could be dangerous. You may note that Molly is sedate, lethargic, she may have some vomiting or wobbly walk. You should contact your veterinarian in the morning to see if they want you to continue normal dosing times or if you should change the timing. Monitor for any overly sedate behavior or obtundation and contact your emergency veterinarian if you note any. Best of luck and hope this helps.

It will not cause any problems even if it was a double dose for this evening. You should continue with other medications as normal.

No worries. If you gave this medication 6 hrs ahead of schedule, it is not going to cause any toxicity concerns whatsoever. You can presume her medication tomorrow morning since you already gave her two doses today, just one was a little earlier than recommended.
