The puppies are either reabsorbed into the body or the dog will pass them. If she was almost full term you can take her to the vet to check for any puppies still present in the uterus with an X-ray. Causes of miscarriage are: uterine infections, brucellosis, genetic issues with the puppies, other viral or bacterial infections and medications Snoopy may have received during pregnancy. If she is sick she should see a veterinarian. Any puppies that are full term and remain in the uterus will cause her to be sick. I wish you the best!

If she is groaning and has bloody discharge form the vulva she needs to see a vet. If she is pregnant she may be having a miscarriage or a problem birthing. If she is not pregnant she may have a uterine infection, a bladder infection or bladder stones. These are not things you can treat at home. Given her age and that she has had a recent heat, she may have a uterine infection (pyometra). This can be a serious infection if left untreated. Crystal should be examined by a veterinarian to be safe and treated if indicated. Surgery may be required if she has pyometra.

This is very concerning - she may be aborting a litter of puppes or may have an infection.
