What is this lump on my 7-year-old Yorkie? Cyst, wart, or more?

It looks like that might be sebaceous cyst with some dried sebaceous debris. I don't think you need too concerned, but it would be good to get it checked out next time your at the vet. I would not be overly concerned about this but continue to monitor closely for any further increase in size or change in colour. Many small wounds, cysts and blocked glands will develop into small, firm noduels and most will harden and shrink down uneventfully. Any changes should be assessed by your vet however

This could be a cyst, an infection, plaque or even a skin tumor like a melanoma. Masses that grow suddenly, change in color/size/are painful are more concerning than those that do not change. The only way to know for sure what this mass is would be for your veterinarian to do an exam and potentially biopsy it. I do not recommend applying any ointment or other medication yet as it could be harmful depending on what it is.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. Chances are that this is a sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cysts are usually harmless, sack-like growths with a lining that is not cancerous. In dogs, most cysts develop from hair follicles. These cysts typically appear as single, clearly defined, firm or soft lumps located in the skin or just beneath it. They are often between 0.5 to 5 centimetres in size and may sometimes have a bluish colour. A cyst can release a thick, gray-to-yellow-brown cheesy substance if it bursts. Other terms for sebaceous cysts in dogs include infundibular or follicular cysts. The lump needs to have a fine needle aspirate (FNA)/cytology to be sure of that diagnosis. Any growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Matilda to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Although a picture of it would help to give you more specific answers, this lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors. It looks like a little wart or tiny cyst. These aren't unusual in mature dogs, but it's worth mentioning it to your vet the next time she's in for her annual visit just to make sure. If it does change color, texture, or size, get her in sooner to have it checked.
