My dog has little milk and puppies won't bottle feed. Should I worry?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 8 years and 8 months old

My dog had 6 puppies a little over 2 weeks ago of them only 4 survived. She has little milk and we try to bottle feed the puppies but they don’t want it so we have to force them to drink. Should we be concerned?

Yes you should be worried. The puppies need nutrition so you will need to bottle feed them if mom doesn't have any milk. She is a bit old to be having puppies - you should consider spaying her now. Here is link on how to bottle feed puppies.

You must use milk replacer for puppies - not cow or goat milk.
