My dog is low energy and doesn't play at the dog park. Is it normal?

This could be behavioral. Some dogs are more active than others and this may be normal for Chance. If you want to play it safe, you could consider having his blood tested to make sure that there are no abnormalities that need to be addressed. Otherwise, this is likely his normal behavior. Hello. It certainly is possible that this is normal for Chi. If her eating/drinking habits have not changed, she seems well, no coughing or problems eliminating, then I would not be too concerned. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! They are probably communicating with each other. This does not mean that they do not like each other necessarily. This is just their interaction which is ok. Not every dog is playful with other dogs. My dogs for example get along fine and play with other dogs but do not play with each other. It is not a concerning thing. It is just their type of interaction and how they interact with each other which I just have to sit back and respect. In summary, I would not be concerned about this. Some dogs just do not enjoy that and will not play with them as much. You can try to get other toys to see if Ginger becomes interested but ultimately she may decide to not use them and that is not necessarily an issue. Have a good night!

I recommend that you have Tippy evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello. While this is a bit unusual for a relatively young, usually high energy beagle, but perhaps Rudy is just a calm dog. Not all dogs play with toys, especially if this was never a part of his life before you adopted him. He can learn to play & this may happen as he becomes more familiar with you. 2 months is still too soon for Rudy to perhaps feel totally secure in his new environment. As long as he seems relatively healthy, is eager to engage for meal times & walks, he just may be a low key dog.
