What long-lasting flea treatment pairs best with Capstar?

You can use both products on the same day so it is fine to start the Advantix at any time. There are better products that Advantix. Top products for dogs are oral products such as Simparica and Nexgard. Top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. Tobby would do best with a product like Comfortis, Simparica or Bravecto. These products last 1-3 months depending on which one you pick. These oral flea products last longer than Capstar. Capstar only last 1-2 days. You will need a consistent product for 6 months before the fleas will be gone. Hope this helps!

Good morning! Capstar is generally thought to be effective for 24-48 hours, so I don't think you need to give another Capstar if you gave one last night. The nexgaurd should not interact negatively with the spot-on product or bath because they work differently. If you are having difficulty with fleas in your pets then you may also need to treat your home and possibly your yard. Vacuum all floors (including wood floors) and furniture and throw the contents in the trash outside, wash all pet pedding in hot water if possible and put in hot dryer. Capstar can safely be used with Frontline. That said, switching to a different topical (they can become ineffective after a while of use) or addressing the house, bedding, etc for places flea eggs can sit may help reduce reinfestation in the future.

Capstar will only kill those fleas that are on the dog and sucking blood once. Getting rid of fleas is relatively easy but entails work for a few months: Unfortunately fleas only hop on the body of your pet when they want to feed, then they hop off again and stay in your pet's environment. Yes, but you need to follow up with a longer acting flea control product as well. I like Advantage, it’s effective, safe and you can buy it at PetCo. Fleas are difficult to get every one and using another product with the cap star will take care of any you may have missed. You can actually give them at the same time, they are completely different products that work in different ways. I also recommend you use a good household flea fogger and vacuum EVERYWHERE! Even hard floors. Wash the dogs bedding on a hot wash, and your bedding if they sleep with you. If you're still finding fleas after a week, you should get a better product from your vet - I recommend Simparica or Comfortis/ Trifexis.
