My dog is limping, vomiting, and won't eat. Should I see a vet?

The two may or may not be related. It is hard to say. However if they are related then he will likely have a fever. You can check his rectal temperature and it should be between 100-102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is high then I would suspect an infectious disease (tick borne disease), congenital bone disorder (femoral head necrosis) or septic arthritis could be causing Ollie's symptoms. Having some baseline bloodwork and a complete physical exam is a good place to start in trying to narrow down the possible causes of his ailment. If he is otherwise stable and eating, drinking normal, and able to go urinate and defecate normally, then he may be able to wait until morning to be seen by a vet. However, if he has pale gums, is lame to the point of being non-responsive, or starts vomiting excessively, then he needs to go to an ER vet right away. Best case scenario is that he has a muscle sprain and also had an upset stomach from something he ate. These would be easily treatable through the vet. You can try to offer him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese to help settle his stomach tonight. Also keep him rested and don't allow him to jump or run to prevent any further injury to his back leg. I hope things work out well for you both. Best wishes and take care.

If Paxton is not eating at all and is limping, this is a sign he is in pretty bad pain or badly injured. I would try to find a vet that can see him sooner, or get in to an emergency clinic (your wait may be several hours as he is not an immediate triage case). Until you can get him into a vet, keeping him on strict bed rest to avoid further irritation or injury of the leg, and offering some bland meals like boiled chicken and rice may help get him eating and reduce his pain, but it is best to get into a vet ASAP if he still refuses.

Limping means Rocky is in pain, and if he's not eating as normal and not drinking, that tells me he is in a lot of pain. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I'd take him into a vet now to get treated.

Loss of appetite and vomiting can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Lameness can be due to discomfort possibly due to arthritis or something else. This may be related or perhaps may be unrelated and another issue. Lyme disease is a possibility though this is not very common. I recommend that you have Jakey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Lameness, loss of appetite and energy are definitely concerning. This can be caused by tick borne diseases such as Lyme disease. There are also certain bone and joint diseases that only affect growing puppies, and need to be ruled out with an x-Ray. I recommend having your appointment sooner rather than later, you may want to call your vet and ask for an earlier appointment.

I would definitely take him to see your vet. He may have a hidden injury, the shifting lameness could indicate a condition affecting his bones called panosteitis, which is seen in growing puppies, usually large breeds. Since he's feeling poorly overall, I think the sooner he sees the vet, the better. Your vet will do an exam, probably labwork and x-rays, and based on these results, will be better able to inform you about your dog's condition and how best to treat it.

Poor Olive! If she is crying out, that generally indicates significant discomfort. If you can get her in today, that would be best.
