My dog is limping, vomiting, and won't eat. Should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Newfoundland | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 21 days old | 40 lbs

My dog started limping last night and when we came home today she has thrown up in her kennel. Now she won’t eat and isn’t very active. Could this be growing pains? Should we take her to the vet tomorrow?

Hello

Dogs don't often get growing pains, but since Oakley is limping and also vomiting, I would recommend that you have her checked. Puppies can limp from injury but best to have her checked, and they can also find out why she's vomiting.

I would recommend feeding her a diet of boiled chicken and rice this evening to help settle her stomach.

Best wishes to you and Oakley.
