My dog hurt her leg, not limping but in pain. Should I take her to the vet?

She may have torn her cruciate ligament, have a problem with her knee cap, have a fracture, etc. Since she seems to be in pain, you should take her to your vet today for an orthopedic examination. Your vet can take an x-ray, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. An anti-inflammatory and pain medications can be prescribed to help relieve any pain. Poor girl! She does sound painful. Because she has been in pain for a couple of days and it sounds like she may have accidentally made things worse today, I think it would be better to get her into a vet now.

I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Tonight, do not touch her leg anymore, and don't try to put it into extension as that will cause her more pain. Rest her tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. In the morning, take her into the vet if she's still limping. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Poor Olive! Given that she has had a previous back leg surgery and is favoring that leg, I do think she should be checked out by a vet. She has a history of issues with the leg, and therefore any new issues with it should always be checked out by a vet just to be safe. I'd give her vet a call to make her an appointment. Hello Dogs don't often get growing pains, but since Oakley is limping and also vomiting, I would recommend that you have her checked. Puppies can limp from injury but best to have her checked, and they can also find out why she's vomiting. I would recommend feeding her a diet of boiled chicken and rice this evening to help settle her stomach. Best wishes to you and Oakley.
